What can I expect?

A very pleasant environment. I promise it will feel like home, be ready to laugh and have fun. Plan on being here for at least an hour. That will give us time to try different clothing, poses, expressions and lighting styles. We will shoot some frames at the start of the session, we’ll look at them together and I will give you some tips on how to make the images to standout moving forward. Normally 90% of the images will get discarded while we are on the pursuit of the true you. We review the images as we shoot to make sure you’re happy with the results and making adjustments along the way. Our main goal is for you to have the looks you want and the best headshot of your life.

What is the cost?

One-Hour studio session is $100. Retouching is $25 per image. Returning customers receive 50% off.

We occasionally run email promotions offering free retouching and other offers.

What do I get?

Two versions of each retouched image, one optimized for the web and a high-resolution one suitable for printing. You will also have access to ALL the images that we choose on your session’s day and will be available on the proof site, they are small resolution images basically intended for you to decide with ones you want to have retouched.

How to prepare?

Try to get a good night’s sleep so you are well rested, drink plenty of water. Arrive early and be ready to have a good time. We are in the same team!

What should I wear?

Bring the clothes you like. Our main focus is head and shoulders. Solid color tops with simple necklines work best. Bring some classic whites, blacks and grays. Professional and casual. Just try to avoid loud patterns, wrinkled and loose clothing unless these things define who you are.

If your goal is a business look I suggest that you bring 2 jackets, a few shirts and lot of solid color ties. Jackets without shoulder pads work best. Shirts worn with a jacket and no tie can easily have some texture or pattern.

Makeup

Girls,

Please show up with your hair and makeup how you normally wear it. I like to start with a fresh and natural look and add as we go. Here are some tips for a vivid headshot:

  • Liquid foundation looks better than powder

  • Keep the lip color close to your natural lip color or one shade darker and glossy

  • Keep eyes looking defined but natural with soft blended eyeliner

  • Go easy on the blush

  • Neutral color eyeshadow work best

  • Blend and then blend some more

  • Wear mascara and curl your lashes

Things to avoid!!

  • Visible hard-edge lip liner

  • hard-edge liquid eyeliner

  • harsh lines or heavy smoked-out eyeshadow

  • false eyelashes unless you normally wear them

  • pencilling in eyebrows with a harsh line

  • clumpy mascara

  • too much blush

  • dramatic lip color

  • powder foundation

  • color differences between areas with and without makeup

  • glitter

If you have a special look in mind we can get it done at the end of the session after we have the more natural look covered.

Is OK if you don’t use any makeup. Just use a facial moisturizer to prevent dry skin issues. If your skin is oily I have a few products that will help reduce the shine.

Guys,

No Makeup please. Like a mentioned before, just use a facial moisturizer to prevent dry skin issues. If your skin is oily, I have a few products that will help reduce the shine.

Lips

Please moisturize your lips (this tip is specially for you guys!). I actually recommend to start moisturizing a few days before. Retouching dry, chapped lips is really difficult.

Hair

Clean and dry your hair the way you normally wear it your best. Is better to have any haircut or color touch-up done at least two days before the session if you need it. If your hair is long enough for a ponytail, please bring what you use to hold your hair. Ponytails provide a really clean look.

Facial Hair

If you shave, please do it in the morning of the session. If you want a little scruff or have a full beard that’s fine also, just make sure the definition is good with clean and nice edges. You can bring your grooming products to shave when we have the shots that you are happy with the beard. If you have a full beard all the time, I won’t recommend shaving since your skin down there will have a different tonality.

Last, but not least…please make sure to remove any unwanted hair from your chin, ears, nose and between your brows. If you have an unibrow that define who you are, please leave it.

Accessories

If you wear glasses, please bring every pair you have. Some of them will have better reflective properties than others.

Jewelry is not recommended since it caused a lot of distraction away from you, the main subject.

Please watch these YouTube videos from my mentor Peter Hurley before your session. They will help you to pose like a pro!
